Loll, A. (2016). Understanding Digital Enhancement Processes. Journal of Forensic Identification, 66(1), 3-12.

Digital imaging processes have become widely used in the latent print community. Adobe Photoshop and other imaging programs (e.g., those provided by Mideo Systems Inc.) have built-in enhancement tools that examiners can apply to images. However, information about how these tools work can be elusive because of the developers’ proprietary rights. This paper addresses which of the more common enhancement tools alter the data in the image and which ones do not.
